  • 1 medium Granny Smith apple, peeled, cored, and grated
  • 30 ml (2 tablespoons) fresh lemon juice
  • 5 g (1 teaspoon) ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 50 ml (3 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon) water, as needed

How to Make Delicious Sugar-Free Pear Jam:

  1. Preparing the pears: Wash and peel the pears, removing the core and cutting them into small pieces. Pears should be ripe to ensure natural sweetness and softer texture.
  2. Apple preparation: Wash and peel the apple, removing the core. The apple is important because it is naturally rich in pectin, a substance that helps to gel the jam without the need for added sugars.
  3. Cooking: In a large pot, place the chopped pears and apple, lemon juice (which also serves as a natural preservative) and cinnamon, if desired. Add water only if the mixture is too dry at first, otherwise let them cook slowly over low heat without adding liquid.
  4. Stir and mash: Cook over medium-low heat for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent the fruit from sticking to the bottom. Using a wooden spoon or fork, mash the fruit as it cooks to achieve a softer, smoother consistency.
  5. Blend (optional): If you want a very smooth jam, blend the mixture with an immersion blender, or leave it coarser if you prefer fruit pieces.
